Australia is sometimes called OZ Rock because of its deep appreciation of the music genre and also probably because of the hundreds of legendary rock artists that came from this nation. It was in the 1950′s when rock music reached the shores of Australia. Although the genre has been made popular in the United States, young Australian people have learned to appreciate it as much as the people from the West does. It was made popular in Australia because of movies, TV shows, magazines and other promotional materials that totally caters the youth. AC/DC
This rock band is the most popular rock band that hailed from Australia. The band has sold over 60million copies of their album in the United States. They have broken plenty of music records and have also broken attendance records. The band in their prime has sold their albums for a total of 200million copies worldwide. Their ball-breaking and hardcore music had all the young people screaming their lungs out for plenty of years. Their single “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n’ Roll) climbed to the top of Aussie’s billboard chart in the 1970′s. This song was dubbed and until now still regarded as Australia’s Rock Anthem. Led by the Scottish Young brothers and the extreme vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC has reached a milestone that other rock bands will surely find hard to reach.
Little River Band
This is another rock band from Australia that became one of the most popular bands in the entire world. Little River Band has a hit single entitle”Reminiscing” that became one of the most played rock songs in the United States. In fact, “Reminiscing” was one of the favorite songs of the late music icon John Lennon. The song “Cool Change” also became one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time, while the song “Lady” has been played forover three million times. This band is made up of five veteran rockers named Ric Formosa, Glenn Shorrock, Graeham Goble, Bib Birtles, and Derek Pellicci.
Jet
In the year 2001,the band from Melbourne called Jet was created. This band was made up of the Cester Brothers, Mark Wilson, and Cameron Muncey. This young group has sold over 6million copies of their hit album “Get Born” world wide. The most recent single entitled “Seventeen” has won the band the Rock Work of the Year 2010.
